End of Summer Time

Hi Everyone, sorry I seem to be behind with catching up with all your blogs, but things have been rather hectic since coming back from our holidays, I promise to catch up soon. Can you believe we are at the end of August already. In Scotland the nights are starting to get darker earlier in the evening and my beloved little Robin has re-appeared back in my garden. All signs summer time is about to end and the clocks will go back soon and winter will be upon us. So this is where my inspiration for my Cheery Lynn  DT card this week came from.

My card is 8x8 in size and fits the Mega Doily Die perfectly. With this die cut I used patterned paper, dry brushed on some Gesso and inked the edges to give a shabby feel. My Clock, Victorian flourishes and corner dies were cut out in a lilac shade of paper. I stamped a crackle stamp onto the clock and corners and then inked the edges on all these die parts and once again dry brushed some Gesso on.

I added some glitter glue onto my clock face and little diamantés.

My flowers all started off as white cardstock. They were cut out and I added different shades of ink, a little stamping onto the Shasta Daisy for texture and a little flower soft into the centres. My leaves were cut from green card stock and the edges inked.

My butterflies were cut out in pink patterned paper and I used the angel wing to cut out the back of the butterflies in white cardstock, again inking the edges.

A Little Birdie Told Me

Hi everyone, I hope you are managing to get some creative time to yourself. 

Today I have made a little Mediterranean inspired card for my Design Team card at Cheery Lynn Designs. My husband and I love to go to the island of Majorca where you see many white washed houses with shuttered windows.

My window was cut out of a cereal packet which I then painted to give a shabby feel. I mounted the window onto a little grey card, placing a little spider ribbon behind to give the illusion of a net curtain. I then added my Anastasia border behind to look like curtains. Don't you just want to peek in the window ! I love having the little window box as it is a lovely finishing touch to add the Wow factor.

My Penny Farthing I cut out twice in black and once in silver card stock, paper piecing it back together over the first complete die cut. My little birds were highlighted with some distress inks.

My brick wall was made using Cheery Lynn's embossing plates, please check them out here on the shop blog. I rubbed some distress ink over the embossing plate, placed a white piece of paper onto it and ran through my die cutting machine. So easy to do with fabulous results.

Lace Wardrobe Style Card

Hi everyone, 

For my DT card this week I thought I would showcase how versatile Cheery Lynn doilies can be in making beautiful accents and patterns on our craft projects.

The Anastasia border matches the Kiwi doily die perfectly so are great to use together, especially when making a real feature with them, like I am doing with this card.

On the opening of my card you will see the border strips, I love the lace effect. You will also see my doily cut into corners and halved. I matted and layered onto papers.

My flowers were made by cutting them out in same pale green card stock as the swirls and background but I stamped a little gesso onto them and rubbed the edges too with gesso before making them up, to give a shabby feel.

The inside of my card compliments the outside and I embellished with a few pearls to finish.

Celebration Card

Hello Everyone, for my Design Team card this week at Cheery Lynn Designs I have made a card showcasing the New Release die - Pour the Wine.

I cut out my wine bottle and backed onto silver paper which I fussy cut around. I then applied lots of little gems into the centre of the flowers and a little sticker on to it. My wine glasses were cut out and I then placed a little colour core paper behind and fussy cut too, adding some bling to finish.

My rose was made with bazzill card stock and the Large Rose die.

Gentleman Time Traveller Flies By

Thanks for stopping by at my blog today and for all your comments and warm wishes to my daughter. Her rash is now beginning to fade although I think it will take at least another week and she has to get bloods checked again next week. My post is the first of 2 today as I wanted to squeeze in my entry for Our Vintage Journey before we left to go on holiday.

I had checked Our Vintage Journey to see the challenge just before going to bed. Bad move, I was awake early .....I couldn’t sleep and with my head full of craft, my Daughter and holidays so I decided just to get up and start my project at 5.30AM. Unfortunately, with starting it at this time of day I don’t have on going photos, due to light and when Chris got up he was then getting ready to go to work. But I will talk you through my techniques I applied to it.

My idea was to inject a little Steampunk into my clock along with my Gentleman who is a Time Traveller flying through Time. I wanted to give the base of my clock a lot of depth with the use of stencils, stamps, die cuts and the use of different mediums. I love how Tim gets so much depth into his projects and I wanted this effect depicted on my clock. So it looked like you could see through the layers of all the years of time on my clock.

My clock started off as a chipboard shape I purchased along with the clock kit from Every Crafts a Pound. I painted a coat of Gesso onto the chipboard to seal it. Next, I layered some Grunge Paste over my Clock stencil. Once dry, I started to apply my Distress paints spraying with water to blend the colours like Tim demo’s on his blog. I also put some distress paint and inks on to some of my stamps to add texture. My cogs/crackles and Gentleman were all stamped using Archival Ink. I also used gilding flakes for more interest and texture.

I die cut out my cogs from chipboard and added my Distress paints in same way and sprinkled over some Frantage onto them. I also added a little paint and guilding wax to my metal embellishments. 

My pocket watches I repainted the clock faces with Gesso and then rubbed some Distress Ink over the numbers. The outer edge of them I rubbed with Gilding Wax. Finally, I poured Glossy Accents onto the top of the clock face and let dry. 

I sprinkled a mixture of Frantage onto my clock and arranged all my cogs. My Gentleman carries his Time Travelling bag along with his wings, made from an old piece of a necklace and a charm which I added black distress paint and guiding wax to.

Compendium of Curiosities - CC3 Challenge 8

Hi Everyone, I decided to get my entry ready for the CC3 challenge, I don't think it's up to my usual standards and after several mistakes I very nearly didn't post it. My daughter who works as Cabin Crew was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever at the weekend, she thinks picked it up on the plane. She is thankfully out the woods now but it has been an awful few days and made anything hard to concentrate on.   

I do like the effect on my backgrounds so I decided just to go ahead with my post and you will find how to do this on Page 58 of Tim's new book.

I will show you the picks now.

Winter Wonderland

Hello everyone, my Design Team card for Cheery Lynn  this week has again focused on the new release dies from Cheery Lynn Designs and I will show you further down this post how to make your Snowflake Doily go from round to square.

My main image was stamped with Archival Ink and I shaded the figures with my distress pens. I distressed the edges with inks and spritzed a little water over. I then added some frantage and glitter to give a blizzard effect to it.

At the side of my 'let it snow' sentiment is the base part of the Build a Tree die, cut out in 2 shades of paper and adhesive sprayed on them and glitter applied for a frost look and little snowflakes applied.

 I have used the same die in the same way at the sides of my snowflowers. It makes fab foliage.

Now onto your snowflake doily. I cut out 4 doilies in glitter card to fit around my frame.

Cut through doily at one side and cut out centre.

You will see I now put little cuts into my doily. 

I then put a little glue into each section, gradually gluing it around my frame. You will notice one section tucks behind the other and that I lifted forward the swirly part at the sides to make my frame more dimensional.
