Happy New Year

Hi Everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and Santa left you all some lovely craft goodies.

Today I am sharing my Cheery Lynn Designs DT New Year card to coincide with this weeks Festivities as we enter 2015.

I started by mounting cream and gold card together which I have distressed at the edges with my distress tool for a shabby worn look.

My clock you will see I also went around the edges of the Angel Wing with my tool. I added lots of sparkle from gems and put the hands of my clock to just after midnight to symbolise the start of the New Year.

My glasses also had sparkling gems added to symbolise the bubbles in the Champagne.

I would like to wish everyone a Creative 2015.

Happy New Year

Merry Christmas Everyone

Hi Everyone, here in Scotland we have had our first covering of snow on the hills and it has turned very cold, but I don't think we will get a White Christmas.
My DT card this week for Cheery Lynn Designs has been arranged by building up layers of die cuts in complimentary colours of card.

You will notice I have added Stickles to help define my layers and to add the all important sparkle to a festive card.

My Poinsettia's were made by colouring White card with Distress Spray Stains and adding a little Gilding wax to the edges and a few stamens in the centres. I arranged my Holly Leaves and Pine Branches to form a Festive arrangement.

I stamped my centre image adding more Stickles and Silicone glue to raise it up slightly. Finishing off my card with a few Red Gems.

I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and thanks so much for all your lovely comments throughout this year. I have loved reading them.

Home For Christmas

Hi Everyone and a warm welcome to my new followers, lovely to have you join me in my creative journey. Thanks so much to everyone for the wonderful comments left on my projects at A Vintage Journey, I have loved reading every one of them and promise to get around to visiting all your blogs at some point.

Over at Compendium of Curiosities 3, I can't believe they are on to Challenge #17 already and having not managed to play along with their challenges recently it is lovely to be able to enter Woodlands and Tinsel Twine. You will find how to do this technique on Page 60 of Tim's new book which you can purchase a signed copy of HERE.
Inspiration Emporium are also giving one lucky entrant a shopping spree of $50 dollars to spend in their shop and there is also a generous prize donated from Tim and Mario.

I made this little house shortly after making my Little House of Curiosities which many of you will remember and for new followers you can check it out HERE and I am so glad it's finally Christmas time and I can share it with you all. It also compliments my Christmas Altered Clock that I made.

I am not going to go into a full tutorial with this one as I know how busy everyone is at this time of year, but please ask me if you would like to know how anything was made.

The techniques applied to the outside of my house are very similar to my Little House of Curiosities project which you can view HERE. They are both part of my ongoing series of house projects.

We'll start from the top of the house with the Star, this started off as a wooden shape covered in several layers of embossing powders.

The Reindeers and sleigh are also wooden shapes treated with stamping and embossing techniques and a little gilding wax and gems. My tree, I followed Tim's techniques on page 60 of his new book and I added a little distress glitter to the base.

I love this photograph that Chris took, it makes Santa's sleigh magical, don't you think?

The angel wing was from an old earring.

The floor is made from coffee stirrers, the candles are wooden with beeswax dripped on to them. The wick was coloured and glossy accents applied.

A small selection of buttons and dolls house bits make up this room.

My Christmas tree was made from a Martha Stewart punch and built up to form this bushy tree. Cheery Lynn now have a die to make this style of tree, which you can buy HERE. Pasta shapes were wrapped up to make the presents.

Some more double embossing on a metal shape decorate this corner and some stamping in the background.

The Christmas garland was made by wrapping strips of paper around a paint brush and gluing to form rings and linked together to form the garland, I used to make these as a child at school. The Santa letter was stamped and torn at the edges.

A little bead work was used to make my figures.

The Christmas Day tag had stamping and embossing techniques applied.

Can you see Tim's technique from page 60 in his new book on my tinsel ? My poinsettia and holly leaves were dipped in to the melt pot for a faux porcelain technique - thanks Hels

My roof tiles were made from a heart punch.

Another angle of some of the rooms.

I hope you have enjoyed my festive post.

Secret Santa at A Vintage Journey

Hi Everyone, Today is rather an exciting day for all the Creative Guides at A Vintage Journey. Brenda came up with a wonderful idea that we would have a Secret Santa and exchange Craft Gifts. So all our names were put into a bag and Brenda let us all know who we would be gifting to. I was given our wonderfully talented Nikki.

Today is the big reveal day on A Vintage Journey, where we all see what each other made and who we all gifted to. So please make sure to check it out HERE.

I decided to make Nikki a Tree Decoration along with a Decorated box for safe keeping.

My box was made using my Scorpal Board and and Kraft Card. I stamped a variety of stamps with Archival ink, Distressed the edges and gave a sprinkling of Frantage.

My Poinsettia's were coloured using Tim's new distress spray stains. The dies used here are from Cheery Lynn Designs.

You will also see I decorated the inside. My tag was die cut from a Magnolia die adding the same treatment to it as my box.

The Tissue Paper was also stamped and the letter N on the little sticker.

My tree decoration was made with TH Pocket Watch die.

I cut out in 4 layers of chipboard to achieve depth. Texture paste was applied through my stencil. I then added a mixture of Antiqued Bronze and Brushed Pewter Distress paints.

I rubbed over PaperArtsy French Roast with a baby wipe. I let it dry slightly then rubbed it back adding some Treasure Gold to finish the effect.

I placed some remnant rubs on my acetate to give more dimension.

My background was inked, stamped, Frantaged and the tissue technique for my Robin. I placed some Flowers Soft Snow in before gluing together.

Finally adding a little Tinsel and Snowflake charm I added bling too.

I was absolutely delighted to learn from Nikki that she adored her gift from me.

I also received my gift from Chris. She is very creative and came up with the idea of a Poinsettia Candle Holder, isn't it beautiful.

It looks stunning sitting on my Fireplace and has a beautiful warm flicker through the flowers from an electric candle. It's a perfect gift for me as I love Yankee Candles and will compliment my Christmas ornaments beautifully. Please check out Chris's blog to see how she made it.

Over at AVJ we would like to give everyone who enters our challenges and who follow our blog posts the chance of a Christmas gift and the nearest thing Brenda could think of doing is to offer our Christmas Give Away. This will be a lovely present to one lucky person. Pop over HERE to find out the details.

Thanks for stopping by today,

A Festive Card

Hi Everyone, I can't believe we are now less than 2 weeks away from Christmas and still so much to do LOL.
Thank you so much to everyone for their kind comments with my Mixed Media Tutorial last week, I really appreciated it. For my DT Post at Cheery Lynn Designs this week, I have made a Christmas card to share with you all. Let me take you through the steps of making this card.

I first of all stamped my Crafty Individuals image in black onto Kraft card and heat embossed with clear ink. Shading my image with Copics and adding Stickles to the berries.

I next paper pieced my large Snowflakes and Pine Branches to the reverse of my card layers to form frames.

You will have noticed on the green foliage I also cut out the top of the branch and layered on to form a corner point.

The Poinsettia's were made by colouring strips of white paper with Distress Spray Stains. I used Aged Mahogany, Festive Berries and Brushed Pewter and dried with my heat gun before adding a touch of gold mica spray. I then die cut out my Poinsettia Strip.

You get beautiful different shades on your flowers which gives a realistic look. I added some stamens and built them up.

I paper pieced my Holly and my Pine Branches onto my card, checking my Poinsettia would hide the joins before I finally glued on top. finally adding Stickles around the Perimeter.

Thanks for stopping by.

#21 - Let's Celebrate

Hello, lovely to have you stop by to see my DT post for A Vintage Journey today. Sorry I am behind with visiting your blogs at the moment but hope to catch up soon.

This time Nikki chose the theme 'Lets Celebrate' for our challenge. This runs for the next 2 weeks so I hope you have time to enter. Please check out HERE where you will get all the details and see many inspiring projects from my fellow team mates. You could also be the lucky winner of a £10 Shopping Spree at our Sponsors Countryview Crafts. They have free P & P and lots of Tim's goodies, so well worth a look.

I adore crafting at Christmas Time especially Home Decor items, so this was the perfect challenge for me. I had the idea to alter a clock in Tim's style that I'd purchased from a bargain shop.

This is how the clock originally looked, before I pulled the works out and gave it a sand.

Unfortunately I don't have on going photos of the next stage as I started this one night I couldn't sleep, perhaps because my head was full of Craft .

I placed a Holly Stencil on my clock with a layer of Grunge paste. Once dry I added several shades of paint and some stamping with Archival ink. Finally covering the whole clock in Rock Candy Distress paint. Once dry I rubbed Distress ink into the cracks, a little distress stickles and stickles for berries.

I used corner die cuts here on the front of the clock and gave the same treatment as above.

My tree is from Cheery Lynn and you build up all the layers. I glued onto a coffee stirred and placed in a old craft lid with paper clay.

My background was made from corrugated card, with a light coat of Gesso, Glamour Dust and Distress Glitter and snowflake die. My TH Clock was given a coat of Ferro paste and Treasure Gold to Highlight.

My TH Lamp Post was cut out in Chipboard, Ferro Paste added, my acetate coloured, a stamped image and Poinsettia added along with Flower Soft.

My 25 was double heat embossed with Stampendous Red tinsel.

My TH deer was given Tim's new technique which you will find on Page 46 of his latest book. I also added some bells and beads.

My Christmas Arrangement was made using a mix of TH dies and Cheery Lynn dies. My Reindeer were wooden shapes that I gave a coat of paint, embossed with Red Tinsel and my Holly stamp. I then heat embossed 3 layers on with clear powder. My deer are supported with coffee stirrers to help them stand.

You will also see a Christmas arrangement and lots of snow nestled with one of Tim's Christmas Relatives. I also have Icicles dripping from the roof and my ever so cute TH Lantern.

On the back I added some decorative papers. And to finish my clock lots of Stickles and Treasure Gold were added, for a Festive feel.

I do hope you have enjoyed my post and feel inspired to enter our challenge.

I'd love if you had time to leave a comment.

Happy Crafting,

Julie x
