Embroidery Hoop

Hi Everyone, Sorry my visits to your blogs are a bit sporadic at the moment but I'm not keeping too well just now, hopefully I will get back to my regular visits soon, but thanks for your continued comments and visits to my blog, I really do appreciate it.

Today I am excited to share with you all another DT project I made using Craft Consortium's most stunning paper pad called Bloom Beautiful.

My mum was clearing out her cupboards and came across a few Embroidery hoops which of course I had to have. I knew right away the quality of these papers would mold beautifully around the hoop.

I started by spritzing my paper with some water on both sides and molding around the hoop and crushing the paper at the edges. It's best to gradually add your water than initially over soak your paper and take your time shaping it around the hoop. Once all in place I dried with my heat gun which gave a super firm effect and now looks like a piece of fabric.

Using papers from the Bloom Beautiful pad my sentiment was stamped with Archival ink.

My flowers and frame were die cut out and inked at the edges.

Finishing off with a ribbon and some sparkly gems. I just love how the finished result looks like fabric.

Merry Christmas

Hi Everyone, today I am sharing with you my sparkly Festive card for my DT post at Cheery Lynn Designs. Let me take you through the process of how to apply your glitter to your die cut with a double sided sheet of adhesive.

Step 1: Attach adhesive sheet to White cardstock by releasing one side of the protective layer. You should now have a sheet of paper that has cardstock on one side and the adhesive film for the sticky sheet on other side with its protective layer still on.

Step 2: Place the protective layer side up on die cutting machine and place your die on top and cut.

Step 3: Once cut, glue a fussy cut oval to the back of your die cut. This makes the design POP.

Step 4: Rub an anti static bag over your paper, this way the glitter will only adhere to the adhesive. Now start to cut into the protective layer and lift off the film to reveal the sticky parts of the Holly. Start rubbing green glitter into the area with your finger.

Step 5: Repeating the  process to lift adhesive film again with your craft knife to reveal the sticky parts where you want to put the red glitter.

This process takes a little while but is a great way to apply different colours of glitter without them mixing.

Let it Snow

Hi Everyone, Today at That Craft Place we have the start of a new challenge - Mixed Media Anything Goes which you can enter HERE. For my DT post I decided to make a festive scene using one of Lisa's fabulous MDF shapes. The details are all on my Sidebar for That Craft Place should you wish to purchase this gorgeous little scene.

My MDF shape started off like this, but I felt inspired to make it into a boxed scene after Brenda showed me her fabulous snowy background in her Festive Box Frame she had made to teach at a workshop recently when we were at Andy Skinners Workshop.

As you can see in this photo I built a frame out of Greyboard around my MDF base.

Next I added pieces of Coffee Stirrer to the inside and outside of my frame. I wanted this to look like an old crate.

I placed some Muslin onto the back of my frame adding on Crackle Paint, Gesso, Rock Candy Distress Glitter, Embossing Powders and Glamour Dust. Once dry I heat set for my embossing powders to melt.

At Andy Skinners workshop we were shown a Crackle Technique which I have applied to my frame. Sorry but I'm unsure if allowed to share this technique at present.

Next I placed a mask over for my moon and adding some shades of Distress ink to look like the moon and heat set some extra thick Clear Embossing Powder onto it.

My trees had a thick textural layer of Embossing Pastes added, I then poured on a mix of Distress powder in Pine Trees and some Embossing Powders.

Letting dry overnight I then heat set to melt all my powders, finally adding some Snowtex and Glamour Dust.

My Reindeers were stamped and heat embossed with Red Tinsel Embossing Powder, I then added a few layers of clear embossing powder and a bell.

For my Icicles I used the Cherry Lynn Designs Icicles Border.

I just wish you could see how much this Christmas Scene sparkles, perhaps one day they will make a camera which captures glitter like our eyes see it.

Baby Book

Hi Everyone, today for my DT post I am sharing with you a decorated cover for a Baby Book using one of Cheery Lynn Designs fab new Memory Book dies. There are many different designs and Mike Dywan has kindly made a video to explain how you make these which you can view HERE.

I decided I wanted a semi hardback cover to my book so initially glued a sheet of paper to a lightweight GreyBoard and then die cut my spine and cover. 

Next I die cut out single sheets of paper and glued to the inside of my front and back covers. The three layers together would have been too much for the die cutting machine to cut but took the two together with ease.

I rubbed ink around the edges of my die cuts before gluing together to form my book. I cut out the spine once again in white card and stamped the name Kirsty into the hearts and re- inserted them into the spine.

My flowers I pressed a little ink onto the White Cardstock and then sprayed with a little water. I squeezed each petal into the finished shape shown and dried with my heatgun then added a fancy pearl button to the centre.

My image was coloured with Copics and I added a little ink to the frame whilst my die was in place to leave a white border around it.

My Pennant die I cut out in patterned and white cardstock. I used the waste part of the White die cut to mount onto my flags for a double layer and used the little Hearts that had come out the border edge strip of my book, finishing off by stamping on the word Baby.

Love You

Hi Everyone, today for my DT card at Cheery Lynn Designs I'm sharing with you a card using one of their fabulous new word dies - Love You. I gave my card a Masculine touch, hopefully to inspire you, as I know we all struggle when it comes to thinking what design to make for a Male, but changing the colours and adding a flower would equally give this design a feminine look.

I used several of my Stacker dies to build my layers and with it coming close to the Festive season I just had to add some Platinum Stickles for an accent of bling.

My Ink bottle was coloured with a Copic Pen and I wrote the work Ink on it. My Feather I inked the edges and ruffled the sides for a realistic look.

I fussy cut a heart shape to place behind my heart doily and gave my word Hugs a shadow effect.

A Little Birdie Told Me Birdhouse

Hi Everyone, hope you are all well and enjoying some creative time. Today I am sharing my DT post with Craft Consortium on my blog and on their Facebook Page. Please pop over to Craft Consortium Ltd on FB and 'like' to be kept informed of new products and regular giveaways.

I have had this Balsawood Birdhouse sitting in my Craft Room for a while and when I saw some of the designs in their Decoupage Papers I just couldn't wait to decorate it using them.

I started by giving my house a coat of Gesso to seal it. I then used a stamp and Grey Archival Ink to add a peeled paint effect to the doors, fence and windows. I used a metal clothes fastener for my door handle.

Next was adding my Decoupage papers with some Mod Podge and once dry I added a layer of Crackle Glaze to the walls and highlighted the cracks with an Antiquing cream.

I used papers from my Gypsy Gypsy pad to add my grass, flourishes and flowers to the roof. 

My flowers on the fence were MDF shapes, I added crackle paint and a Pearl to their centre.

A Little Birdie Told Me was stamped onto a coffee stirrer stick and my die cut bird was shaded with Distress ink.

Finally adding a little lace and pearls to finish.

Mixed Media Christmas Card

Hi Everyone, today I am sharing some Festive Inspiration using the new Royal Scandinavian Doily from Cheery Lynn Designs for my DT card.

I die cut out my Doily and Corners and heat embossed with a Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder, layering on to my patterned cardstock.

Next I started to cut out my Candlelight die 3 times, so I had plenty parts to build up my layers for texture. My foliage was shaded with Copics, shaped on my embossing mat and layered up a few times. My Poinsettia was also shaded with Copics, layering in my shaped petals and adding a little Gold Flower Soft to the centre.

My candles were layered twice. On the top section I brushed on some Beeswax which I had melted in my Meltpot. I then added some drips of wax and once set highlighted with Gilding Wax. My flames were shaded with Copics and some Glossy Accents added onto them.
