Flutterby Butterfly

Hi Everyone, hope you are having a nice weekend and getting some crafty time to yourself. I love the elegance of white on white cards although Chris wouldn't agree for photographing LOL. Anyway this week my DT card for Cheery Lynn Designs I joined in with the challenge - Things with Wings, as I felt inspired to combine both things together.

My corners I creased slightly down the middle and glued at the edges to give a 3D effect. I also layered up my dies but rather than gluing totally flat onto my card, I layered with silicone glue to encourage the light to reflect in between the layers to show the beauty of my die cuts.

My butterflies I sprayed some glue onto and added an extra fine glitter to also capture the light and give some sparkle.

A Vintage Journey - With A Flourish

The Challenge at A Vintage Journey this time is With a Flourish. I love adding flourishes onto my projects, but wanted to do something a little different. After a couple of days thinking about this I thought I would showcase the flourish on 2 different pillow boxes using a shabby feel to one and a vintage feel to the other as I know Tim is influenced in both these styles a bit like myself. I love these little boxes, they are great for popping in a little gift.

I first die cut out Tim's pillow box die using 480 gsm white card. For my shabby feel one I stamped my ornate stamp using embossing ink and heated with clear powder. Next I started to shade with distress all over, adding some script stamp and a flourish stamp in the same shades I had coloured the cardstock. I then spritz with a little water and some distress stain to shabby it up a bit.

My tattered flower was swooshed through stains as Tim shows you, distressing the edges and spritzing on some stain before building them and adding little beads to the centre. I stained my cheesecloth with stains, scrunched and dried with my heat gun to shabby up.
I like how Tim adds metal accents to his projects and felt my flower would suit them. I also stamped some butterflies onto vellum, fussy cut and placed at the flower. 

My flourish I swooshed also through stain picking up shades drying in between layers. I then stamped onto it with distress and sprayed a little glimmer mist on.

My Christmas box was started in the same way as my shabby one but this time I used more vintage tones.

I love how the sizzix  tattered pine cone die doubles up for roses too, so this was perfect to use on my project. Tim has a video of how to on his blog. I coloured my white card with different tones of reds and browns for my roses, added a little glimmer mist and gilding wax to the edges. My pine cone was cut out in kraft card and shaded at the edges. I added some snow to my pine branch which was made from a Cheery Lynn die B257 cuties fringe 3, wrapping it around a cocktail stick at an angle.

My flourish I pressed into Versamark in and used Frantage on it along with a little red tinsel embossing powder. I also rubbed a little gilding wax on the edges.

Brr It's Cold Outside

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your fantastic comments on my previous two posts, it's so much appreciated and does wonders for my creativity. This week the challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs is to use texture on your card, so for my DT card I injected lots of textures in to this card.

I used the brick plate and ran some co-ordinations paper through my die cutting machine and then sanded it back to reveal the coloured core. Next I die cut this piece of paper and sprayed some glue onto it and added extra fine glitter for a frosty feel.

My tree I layered up and sprayed with some gold mica spray and dried with my heat gun. This helps to curl the paper and gives it a firmer feel. I added Flower-soft snow, glitter, red stickles, my little birds and snowflakes all to give a winter feel. The Tree comes with some wonderful decorations dies also and you can see it decorated here on one of my previous cards.

My window I wanted a frosty feel to, so I added some icicles....I adore this die. They we're die cut in white card with a little distress added to the points of them, I then sprayed glue and added glitter too them and placed onto my window frame with a little snow. I also made some curtains for behind my window using my Cuties strip die.

My wording I layered up twice for a shadow effect. I wish you could see all the sparkle on this card but the camera has unfortunately only picked up a bit of it.

When I saw this Challenge I was so excited as I love making intricate pieces on my projects. I started on this challenge and it took me 3 days working on my clock and just before Chris started to photograph it for me, disaster struck..... I had re-read the challenge instructions and realised I would have to start the whole thing again as I was not working on one of Tim's clocks. Scream !!! A panic now also to get an Assemblage Clock in enough time to still enter the challenge, but by luck my local craft shop had one left. Hence, why after saying my entry would be up on my Blog  at the beginning of the week and it wasn't.

Finally, when I started Tim's clock I had no idea this time what way I was going to decorate the inside of it, whereas the previous one which I will showcase at some point I had clear plans with.

The outside I covered with gesso, tissue paper and a couple of die cuts. I also layered tissue onto the inside too. I painted my whole clock and added a layer of rock candy crackle paint and once dry I rubbed some distress ink all over. finally rubbing on some gilding wax.

The feet and Handle I triple embossed with gold embossing powder.

My flower was made using the Tattered Flowers die picking up some distress stain and rubbing ink onto the edges. My little frame was made out of a mould and my melt pot.

Can you see my little wooden floor inside my clock ? It is made from coffee stirring sticks, my favourite free craft stash.

I finally found myself in a sewing themed room inside my clock after cutting out my little mannequins, decorating them with paints, stains, distress glitter, fabric and stash.
