Shabby Cherub Tag

Lovely to have you stop by my blog today. This wooden tag I made a few weeks ago and was just waiting on the perfect challenge to enter it into and along came a few.

I purchased several of these wooden tags from our local B & M store and they are great for altering and using paint on.

I started by giving my tag a good sanding and a coat of Gesso to seal it, followed by a little Grunge Paste through my script stencil for accents top and bottom. I then started to apply 3 colours of PaperArtsy paints over my tag building the layers and knocking back with a baby wipe. Once I was happy with this I started to add some crackles with a stamp.
Next I stamped onto a paper handkerchief using Archival ink on my cherub stamp. I then tore around the edges of the tissue. I prefer to do this than cutting it as you are less likely to see the scissor line. I gave my tag a coat of multi medium and placed the tissue on top sealing it with several coats of multi medium.

Once dry I pressed the edges into Versamark ink pad and added 2 colours of embossing powders to give a shabby metal feel to edges and then sprinkled a mixture of Frantage onto areas. I also added a little Treasure Gold to highlight my stencilling.

The flowers and leaves I made using a Cheery Lynn die. I then dipped them into my melt pot to give a Faux Porcelain look and rubbed with Treasure Gold.

I finally added some pearls, lace and a few charms, hanging to give a Victoriana feel. My angels wings on the beads I covered in embossing powder heat set and added some glamour dust. The tag hangs with the originally piece of string mixed with some pearls and ribbon but was awkward to photograph this bit.

Thanks for looking and hope your managing to be creative this weekend.
