Hi Everyone, Thanks for stopping by today to see my very
first Art Journal page. I have pondered over the idea of Art Journalling for
several months now, feeling very apprehensive about the whole idea but finally
decided to take the plunge.
I only have one ongoing photo as the whole project kept
changing and was nearly completely Gesso'd over at another point. I kept going
though and am pleased with my results. Whether I will be in another six months
as my journal fills up is anyone's guess LOL
I would love if you had time to leave me your honest
opinion on my pages to help me improve as I step into the Journey of Art
Journalling.
Many Thanks,
Julie x

So glad you've taken the plunge Julie, fabulous journal pages, first or not...great composition. I felt very similar but love the freedom it gives me now. The texture you've created is fabulous and love the additions to the photos...hope you quickly become addicted! Ruth xx

It is a great plunge, Julie and believe it or not, I too have started a page and still struggling with it! Love what you have done here and hope to see more! One more for the "think alikes". Hugs.
ReplyDeleteOK, Julie...You want a honest opinion. Well here it is: I think this is probably THE MOST BEAUTIFUL journal page(s) I have ever seen!!! So there! The background was soooo stunning, I could not take my eyes off of it...If you don't mind I'll have to make something similar for one of my cards, I'll give you the credit! Gorgeous colors and such a beautiful theme. There are some gorgeous journal pages out there, but majority is kinda dark and more of an abstract art..I like yours, more of a soft side of journaling...
ReplyDeleteWow, Julie, those pages are stunning! Fantastic textured background and awesome blended colours! I adore that vintage feel and all the elements you incorporated there so beautifully! Your first step into the journey of art journaling is brilliant! Can't wait to see your next pages!

An honest opinion? It is stunning - well done for persevering with it because it is just gorgeous and it looks like you have been journalling for years - truly. You have created so much wonderful texture, the photos are lovely mounted onto those little scraps of lace and muslin. The colours give it a truly vintage feel too. You have almost made me want to have another go! Hugs, Anne xx

Gorgeous Julie! I would have never guess that this was your first journal page, you pulled it off like a pro! Love the texture, the colours and the wonderful layout!! We both took our first journal page dive together this month, isn't it great! hugs :)
ReplyDeleteHeheheheh - you wouldn't believe how many I have nearly gesso'd over Julie! But I learned that if I work past that - then it always starts to get better somehow. And in your case... it did. WOW. Your background is INCREDIBLE. Your texture is a FEAST of VINTAGE LACEY THRILLS and FRILLS! Sure hoping you will KEEP ON with your art journal. Can't wait to see MORE. Thanks bunches for joining the June Challenge at Rhedd’s Creative Spirit. j

ReplyDeleteHi, Julie - So glad you posted this on Brenda's Visual Journey! I, too, was a bit intimidated by the idea of journaling, but have found great freedom in it. I think your pages are lovely. I follow your other work, and look forward to seeing future journaling! xx Lynn
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love these pages, Julie - stunning textures and such beautiful vintage colour tones. I adore the lettering down the sides. What a fabulous first foray into journalling - you're a natural... and it can be exactly what you want it to be, so I can't wait to see where it takes you next. Marvellous!

Wow! Love all the elements on these pages! Especially that little crown! :) Fabulous! Thanks for sharing with us at Rhedd's Creative Spirit this month! ~Nan, CT~
ReplyDeleteThis is simply gorgeous, the gesso-ing is beautiful and it is very soothing but interesting and uplifting all at the same time. What a beautiful project and thank you for sharing it on Our Creative Corner that allowed me to come over here and have a closer look. Candice
ReplyDeleteWow!!!! if this is your first journal page I can't wait to see the rest. So you want an honest opinion.....Stunning, you should be very proud!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the gesso-ing over the bits.... yyyeeeyyyy we've all done that!!! No worries, thats the whole point. If its not right, just paint over it and start again. Our ideas change from the initial ones we have when we start something. But these pages are fabulous. I love the photos youve used and the background is just gorgeous!!!
Julie - honestly - this is wonderful, and if you hadn't said it was your first I would have thought you had been art journaling for ages and had just decided to show one of your pages! I love all the delicious details and your lovely photos! I have been looking at what I missed while we were away but this stopped me in my tracks! Hugs, Chrisx
