Cheery Lynn Designs Blog Hop introducing IOE Plates

Hello there and welcome to our latest blog hop at Cheery Lynn Designs. We are all excited to be showcasing with you the new IOE Plates, where you decide what part of your embossing folder you want to emboss. It was the Spring Equinox here in the UK at the weekend so I thought it would be nice to share a Vintage Springtime Card.

My Pocket Watch I coloured with Copic Pens and mounted onto my Angel Wing which had been given three layers of Pearlised Embossing Powder. Once glued in place I reheated my Embossing Powder to give the illusion of my numbers being set into the Pearl background similar to on a watch.

Finishing off my card with a sweet little Bunny and his cotton tail.

Spring Bouquet for Mum

Hi Everyone, spring has definitely sprung here in Scotland and this weekend we also celebrate Mothering Sunday. So I decided with all this in mind to make a Mother's Day Card for my DT card at Cheery Lynn Designs.

I started by layering up paper which was distressed at the edges and the Mini Italian Flourish was cut out in white card and inked with Shaded Lilac Distress Ink.

I then layered on the co-ordinating Italian Flourish Doily which I had folded in to a concertina and opened back up to give texture, it had also been inked in the same way. You will see I used the Trellis Die for the stems of my flowers.

I Love these Bows, a perfect accompaniment to a bouquet of flowers.

I got carried away and forgot to take some more ongoing pictures, so here are the close ups. Notice I have some closed buds as well as flowers about to open to add a realistic look to the flowers.

My Baby's Breath Flowers and Tiny Flower Kit I added a little stickles to their centres.

A couple of angled shots to give you an idea of the depth of the card.

Doll Tag

Hi Everyone. I thought this week it would be nice to make a fun tag for my DT Post at Cheery Lynn Designs this week for a change.

My tag this week is pretty self explanatory but let me point out some of the layers to you. I started off cutting a layer of paper to cover my tag and used the Border Carnivale at one side, with the Anastasia Border at the other side. I also layered my Lattice Valance Border on each side to add a contrast of colour for more interest. My Horizon Fishtail Banners were paper pieced at either side to extend it slightly.

My heart was cut out and I added back in the inside part that I had die cut out. I layered Daughter twice for a shadow effect.

My butterflies were cut out in patterned paper and angel wing added to the back.

I used my tiny flowers to decorate my doll stamps dress, headband and shoes to give a little more texture. Finishing off with some gems, ribbon and stickles.

Flowers in a Cart

Hello everyone from sunny Scotland, and a warm welcome to my new followers. I hope you are all managing to get some creative time.

My mojo has been running on full power over the past week so I now have a few things being prepared to post. Do you remember my post - Flowers on a Log, if not you will see it here. Anyway, in my head I have a couple of variations of this project planned, but have been awaiting the perfect challenge or GD spot to make them. Finally, this month Our Creative Corner and A Vintage Journey and various other challenges listed below, fitted my idea perfectly for one of them. My post is photo heavy so will try to keep my writing to a minimum so if there is anything you would like to know please just ask.

I started off by making a rectangular box with my Scorpal, and then yes my favourite item the coffee stirrer sticks were given a coat of Gesso and PaperArtsy paints and crackle glaze were applied to them. Next, I glued them onto the sides of my box, once dry I then glued my box together and applied a little distress to the edges and added my little hinges which had been die cut in kraft, distress and little rust marks stamped on, finally adding black liquid pearls for the nails.

My wheels were die cut out with a cereal packet and 5 layers glued together. I applied distress paint and distress ink around the edges. Once all dry I used my crop a dile to punch a hole in the middle, added my die cut cog rubbed with a little treasure gold. I then cut down a barbecue skewer and placed my wheels on either end, hot gluing to my cart and adding another couple of sticks to the front to form my tow bar. I put a little hessian in my box to give it more of a Tim Holtz feel, but you only see little bits of it now the flowers are in it.

My flowers and leaves are all die cut out from various dies using kraft white and patterned paper. My kraft and white flowers had distress stain added to the paper the way Tim demonstrates in his videos, spraying a little water on to them and stamping with some distress ink. I then scrunched my flowers and let them dry in the sunshine.... Yes I did say sunshine and not heat gun lol, finally spraying a little glimmer mist on too.

My leaves we're made in the same way adding inks and stains, but I also double embossed with embossing powder some leaves to give a nice shiny look. Cheery Lynn's leave dies have veins in them and I find when you add the stains it starts to pool in the veins which I love.

I die cut out my bunting and stamped the word flowers and distressed the edges. I put the wording on both sides so my project can be appreciated a full 360 degrees. Barbecue skewers were painted with distress and rolled over a word stamp with archival ink to give more texture. My ribbons were made from an old sheet which I had saved a length of. I ripped 3 sections and placed into a diluted solution of distress stains and scrunched up to dry with my heat gun.

Li’l House on the Prairie.

Hello Everyone, Thanks for popping over to my blog to see my final Guest Design post for Cheery Lynn Designs . I am so excited to be sharing this post with you all. When Cheery Lynn showcased the release of their Wagon Wheel at the beginning of the year I immediately fell in love with it and thought it must be part of a 3D project. I will not go into every detail with my wagon or you may be reading this post for an hour.....I will instead show you pictures around my wagon with little snippets of info and if you would like any other info please just email me.

My inspiration came from fond memories of watching Little House on the Prairie as a child, but I thought it would be nice to give it also a look of an old style Gypsy Caravan. My windows, wagon wheels and lattice valance border were all cut out from an empty cereal packet. Every die cut beautifully through this card which then gave me the perfect sturdy surface for paints and inks to be applied.

My wagon was constructed in a similar way to my Forever and a Day project using coffee stirrer sticks to make it rigid.

My door and flooring were made from coffee stirrer sticks and my steps from the little spare pieces of Balsa Wood you get with a canvas frame along with a couple of sticks.

My Wagon wheels were cut out 6 times for each wheel and glued together. I then painted them and rubbed a little Gilding Wax onto them and attached a little hitch fastener to them. With the die having embossing texture on it I was delighted with the result of how it looked like wood.

My windows I placed 2 layers onto the shutters to give an appearance of depth and I applied some Gesso and distress ink to give a real shabby feel.

The Lattice Valance Border I have used on several areas of my wagon, It's a great die as it gives you many different new shapes to use. My fence at the front has also been made using it.

My roof was made by layering the Anastasia Border onto it and decorating with lots of flowers.

The little plant pots at the front door are made from an old necklace. I die cut out 3 sets of Baby’s Breath flower kit for each pot and layered together to give the effect of small flowering bushes.
