Blog Friendship

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I had a lovely afternoon meeting Astrid from Astrids Artist Efforts for the first time. We had plenty of crafty things to talk about and enjoyed hot chocolate and a Macaroon in a lovely French Coffee Shop.

You couldn't hope to meet a nicer person and I felt so relaxed in her company. She gave me this beautiful card which has taken pride of place in my craft room next to my ATC book from Mo.

Hope you all have had as nice a weekend as I have and had some time to craft.

Doll Tag

Hi Everyone. I thought this week it would be nice to make a fun tag for my DT Post at Cheery Lynn Designs this week for a change.

My tag this week is pretty self explanatory but let me point out some of the layers to you. I started off cutting a layer of paper to cover my tag and used the Border Carnivale at one side, with the Anastasia Border at the other side. I also layered my Lattice Valance Border on each side to add a contrast of colour for more interest. My Horizon Fishtail Banners were paper pieced at either side to extend it slightly.

My heart was cut out and I added back in the inside part that I had die cut out. I layered Daughter twice for a shadow effect.

My butterflies were cut out in patterned paper and angel wing added to the back.

I used my tiny flowers to decorate my doll stamps dress, headband and shoes to give a little more texture. Finishing off with some gems, ribbon and stickles.

Hope you have enjoyed my post today and see you all next Saturday,

Julie x

The Start of a New Journey

Hi Everyone, the past month has been quite a whirlwind for me on my blog, with amazing comments, new followers, fabulous wins and exciting news I must share with you all today.

But first I thought it would be nice to give a little recap of earlier photographs on my blog you may have not seen if you are a new follower.

Now for the news that I am bursting with excitement to share with you all.

A Vintage Journey first started in February, sharing and expanding our knowledge on everything Tim Holtz and giving us challenges based around how we are all personally influenced with Tim's style and his approach to art, and for me being one of his biggest fans I signed up as a follower immediately.

I am sure you will have seen the mind blowing creativity that the Creatives Guides post, but if you haven't please check it out here.

Now, some of you may have noticed a few weeks ago A Vintage Journey had a DT Call. I decided to apply, keeping my fingers crossed and dreaming ....what if ?

Absolute shock in the nicest way, as I am ecstatic with excitement to announce I am now on their Super Talented Design Team as a Creative Guide. Thanks so much to everyone at A Vintage Journey for choosing me and I look forward to sharing the next part of My Journey with you all.

Nice Little Things

Hi Everyone,  with winter now just around the corner here in Scotland, I have started to feed our Garden Birds once again. This week my Cheery Lynn DT card is inspired by them and the Summer flowers that are now all disappearing.

Let me show you previous layers again on this card to make it easier to understand how I made it.

You will see I layered my French Flair Doily stackers rotating the following layer to a diamond shape and I paper pieced in my Snowflake Doily at the back.

I shaded my leaves, birds and birdbath with distress inks and my flowers were coloured with Copics.

I stamped my verse, added a little distress and accent stamping to soften the sharpness of the white card.

Happy Crafting,

Julie x
