I Just Wanna Make Nice Things

Hi Everyone, Today it's the turn of the mixed media team hosting the New Challenge at That Craft Place - Anything Goes - Mixed Media.

This time I decided to use one of the fab Printers Style frames that are Laser Cut at That Craft Place, along with others which are listed at the end of my post. There is an amazing selection of laser die cuts and a bespoke service so please check them out at the online Facebook shop which you will get the links for on my sidebar.

The frame comes with 4 corners and 2 aperture mounts and 1 back in a super MDF quality. For my frame I decided to use only 1 of the apertures and 2 corners so I have another one for a future project.

I started by heat embossing Stampendous Frantage powders onto my aperture frame. Love how this has given a mottled effect.

My back piece of MDF I used DecoArt crackle paint and I rubbed some Distress Ink to highlight the cracks.

Adding stitching to my papers and arranging my sections.

My parasol was made using a bead finding and hat pin. My boot is an altered button. My key was covered in a mix of embossing powders and distress powders to give a rusty aged look.

My corners are also heat embossed with Bronze powder. I inserted the cream scrolls which had also been heat embossed with Frantage powders, adding a few pearls and gilding wax to the edges.

My Cheery Lynn butterflies were die cut out and heat embossed with Pastel shaded embossing powders and I layered them up twice for extra dimension. The ornate frames I added Crackle paint and gilding wax and little pearls.

My mannequin I added more crackle paint and gilding wax to and my lace was gathered with a few stitches and glued in place, adding some more pearls and a ribbon flower to form a pretty dress. I also added pearls around the edge of this part of the frame.

My MDF candelabra was made from Ferrous paste, beeswax dripped on the candles with glossy accents added on the flames. I mounted my paper with a little cheesecloth behind.

My photo is one of Tim Holtz found relatives which I scratched with my scratchy tool to age. I love my little sparkly crown on her.

Here is a close up of the other corner.

Hope you get a chance to join in the mixed media challenge at That Craft Place. Thanks so much for stopping by today, your visits and comments always make my day.

Julie xx
